Okra is a plant from the cheese family that The plant is cultivated more in tropical regions and the cold will reduce the yield of okra. Okra is an annual plant with a herbaceous stem. This plant is rich in folic acid, vitamins A and C. It is also a good source of B vitamins, magnesium, potassium and dietary fiber. Okra is cultivated after the weather warms up. Transplantation is not common in this plant, but it can be planted both as seedlings and directly in the original land. Before planting, the seeds are placed in water for 24 hours to facilitate germination. Okra seeds are planted in rows that are 120 to 150 cm apart. The distance between two plants on the cultivation rows varies between 30 and 90 cm, which depends on the variety (short and tall) of the plant. The seeds are placed at a depth of 1 to 1.5 cm in the soil. Okra seeds do not germinate well and easily, so more seeds are planted at a shorter distance, then the extra plants are thinned. The length of the germination period is 12-20 days. Seed consumption per hectare is between 1.5-3 kg.

Suitable conditions for cultivation:

Okra is a heat-loving plant that grows best in the climate of southern regions and in medium sandy to loamy soils with good drainage. The soil should be rich in organic matter with a pH between 5.8 and 6.8. In case of planting in clay soils, seedling cultivation is suggested because seed germination is difficult in clay and heavy soils. Plants should be grown in an area that receives at least 8 hours of sunlight per day. Okra grows better at high temperatures. The minimum soil temperature for okra to grow should be 18.3 degrees Celsius (65 degrees Fahrenheit). Optimal growth of plants occurs at soil temperature between 23.9 and 32.3 degrees Celsius.
