Types of date palm pests and diseases:

+Date leaf beetle: It is one of the important date palm tree pests that causes damages A lot of trees. The ladybug is light yellow, greenish, winged and about 5 mm long. Female insects and their nymphs feed on the sap and green matter of the plant by dipping their proboscis into the palm leaves and secrete sweet and sticky excrement called honeydew on and under the palm leaves. + Date fruit worm: is another pest of date tree. The adult insect is a gray-white butterfly with silver scales and small brown spots on the body surface. The tentacles are thread-like and the width of the body with open wings is 10-12 mm and its length is 6-8 mm. The larva of the pest is yellowish white in color, slightly smooth and shiny, 10-12 mm long. The oval shaped pupa is yellow and 15 mm long. +Date pollinator: The larvae of this pest feed on date palm pollen and cause the clusters to change shape by attacking fungi. And bacteria due to humidity, the infected clusters turn black and the date seeds change color from light green to dark yellow. The amount of damage caused by this pest in groves varies from 5 to 10 percent. The adult insect is a dark colored butterfly that is about 4-3.5 cm long. The larva is brownish to black, 4 cm long, the pest pupa is elongated and white in color.
